WAXY MAIZE STARCH (WMS)
Volumize contains WMS, a short term name for Waxy Maize Starch which is a high molecular carbohydrate, the fastest absorbing carbohydrate on the planet. WMS is absorbed at an unbelievable 70 times faster than dextrose and maltodextrin based products, and moves through the stomach 80 times faster, yielding a far greater amount of stored muscle glycogen. This results in quicker recovery from strenuous exercise and also yields much larger, fuller muscle tissue. Other fast acting carbohydrates typically have a high osmolality, which means they have a high concentration of osmotically active, water attracting, particles. Due to this high osmolality, the rate of passage of concentrated carbohydrate drinks through the digestive system is relatively slow, which delays carbohydrate delivery to the liver and muscles and therefore has a negative influence on exercise performance and body glycogen restoration following strenuous exercise. People using branded supplements containing dextrose as a primary fuel source usually experience stomach discomfort or a bloated feeling because dextrose binds water from the body’s reserves (small intestine, blood and muscles) and draws it into the stomach.
